Quality Instructors and Driving Lessons Costs
We believe that choosing to learn to drive with Caledonian Learner Driver Training should be one of the best decisions you ever make. That’s why we ensure that all our Instructors and Coaches are trained to the highest standard, and consistently encouraged to improve through our own in-house continuing professional development programme. Our driving lessons are delivered in a structured manner by ADIs who believe in your ability to take responsibility for your own learning. Refresher driving lessons are also available.
The best ADIs (Approved Driving Instructors) are the ones who voluntarily invest in themselves, pushing themselves to better understand the new methods behind how people learn and absorb new information. At Caledonian, we are convinced that good driving is not a skills-driven process alone, but relies on beliefs, attitudes and a reflective understanding of risk-increasing factors.
The result is a driving school that you can be absolutely sure provides value-for-money driving lessons, and which is dedicated to developing you and your family into great, thoughtful drivers.

The Trainee Licence
In December 2017, the DVSA changed the third and final test that Provisional Driving Instructors (PDIs) have to pass to become fully qualified. As a result of this change, and like many other driving schools, Caledonian LDT opts to sponsor suitable PDIs who have completed highly regarded training programmes. (Over 80% of our fully qualified driving instructors have been trained “in-house”.)
PDIs sponsored by Caledonian LDT receive rigorous training in the most up to date coaching and client-centred learning methods, and we would not sponsor them if we did not feel they were capable of providing the same levels of service and expertise that our brand is built on. The Trainee Licence allows PDIs to hone their skills in a real-world environment, and to reflect on their experiences afterwards with their Caledonian LDT Training Manager. 50 hours of training is normal (the legal requirement is 40) prior to the issue of a Trainee Licence, and 20 hours of additional training is carried out during the Trainee Licence lifespan. Caledonian LDT Training Managers sit in on many driving lessons to assess performance and to ensure that standards are being met and maintained.
The Trainee Licence is a vital part of the PDIs’ self-development, and a great way to launch their new careers. It can allow them to leave secondary or backup jobs to focus on their main goal of qualifying. As a result, each of them is highly motivated to do well and succeed and Caledonian LDT is proud to recommend each of our PDIs to Clients without hesitation.
