Who are you and what do you do?

Hi I'm Nicola and I'm a Trainee Driving Instructor. I have been training with Caledonian for over a year. The reason I chose Caledonian for my training is that they came highly recommended when I was doing my research. Great decision on my part. 

My experience working within Health and Social care for over 16 years has allowed me to develop great interpersonal skills that are transferable to my new career as a Driving Instructor. I'm a patient, calm person and I'm used to dealing with stressful situations in my role within Social Care. 

What is the best thing about being a driving instructor?

Learning new skills and developing my own driving through my training. Getting to meet new people and working with them, to help them succeed and have skills for life. 

What is the best advice you could give your learners?

Try and relax and don't worry about making mistakes, it's all part of the learning process. Remember, everyone driving on the road has had to be a Learner at some point. I'm here to help you and put you at ease.

What do you like to do when you're not working?

I love spending time with my husband and two kids. I enjoy watching them play football for their team's and I can be a little noisy on the sidelines cheering them on. 

I enjoy cycling and cooking, as well as travelling to new countries. I spent a year travelling around New Zealand, Australia and South East Asia. I first met my husband in a Brisbane Backpackers and we have been together ever since.

One interesting fact about you...

A few years ago I cycled from London to Brussels for charity. 348 miles in 4 days. I couldn't sit down for a week when I got home!
