Who are you and what do you do?

I’m Niamh and I’m a trainee driving instructor. I am a friendly, caring and patient person and love working with people.

I chose to train with Caledonian as I liked that they are a small local team with an incredible support network, and their commitment to encouraging continuous learning and development. My training to date has been a high-quality mix of online learning, home study, group sessions, learning and development events, and dedicated one-to-one in-car training with well-known local driver trainer, Gordon Latto.

What is the best thing about being a driving instructor?

Seeing people progress and achieve their goals. And having the flexibility to work when I want so I can spend more time with my family.

What is the best advice you could give your learners?

Don't be afraid to make mistakes. This is how we learn and develop. Also, if you're nervous, know that it's completely normal. Even the safest and most confident drivers were once beginners.

What do you like to do when you're not working?

I enjoy going for walks with my two young kids and two lovely cockapoos. I like a good reality TV show, and I also play the violin, although I would safely say I am a better driver than violinist!

One interesting fact about you...

I grew up on a farm in Southern Ireland and have lived in Scotland for 16 years. I have a first class degree in Event Management.
