'Passed my test first time yesterday! Thanks to Kirsty and all her help. Her patients and enthusiasm really helped me through. The way they teach at Caledonian DT is brilliant and they really listen to your needs. Can’t thank you enough!'

Who are you and what do you do?

Hiya, my name is Kirsty Quinn, I am an ADI and Training Manager for Caledonian DT. For that role, I work between learners and teaching new instructors. I like having a mix of levels, and it allows some of my trainee instructors to observe me at work.

What is the best thing about being a driving instructor?

I love being able to help people from all different walks of life, add another skill to their portfolio, but also open up so much freedom, independence and opportunities for people.

What is the best advice you could give your learners?

Best advice I can give students is to use time out of the car more effectively by paying attention to how the roads work and how drivers interact to help you be at ease and understand these signals earlier on in lessons. Passing your theory test before or at the start of lessons also plays a big part in helping speed up the process.

What do you like to do when you're not working?

When I’m not working, I love socialising with my family and friends. I also love cooking, exploring new cafes and restaurants and also keeping fit: running, HIIT and spin classes and walking our dog.

One interesting fact about you...

One interesting fact about me is that I am a from a small island in the Outer Hebrides and I am a fluent Gaelic speaker.

'My granddaughter Katie passed her driving test today  first time. A huge thank you to Kirsty who has been great. So encouraging, kind, patient and supportive. I cannot recommend Kirsty enough. A huge thank you for everything have done for Katie.
